The Aloha Bungalow expanded at the end of 2020 when Emily and Brian opened a second location of their little shop in the North County San Diego community of Leucadia. They now own and operate the two coastal locations with love and gratitude.
The Aloha Bungalow focuses to support local artists and give them a platform to share their talents and products, while also creating an ohana with each individual that walks into the store. Like the spirit of aloha, they greet you with open arms and treat you like family.
1. How has COVID affected your business?
COVID seriously made us change our approach to our business. We have relied on our incredible customers to help us weather the storm and the uncertain times and our customers have amazed us with their commitment to our little shop. Also, when retail was shut down last March we shifted our entire business to online which actually allowed us to reach customers beyond our physical storefront. Overall it has been a trying year, but we have survived thanks to the love and support of our customers.
2. What brought you to Leucadia?
My wife and I moved to North County last February from Redondo Beach. We were immediately drawn to the beachy community of Leucadia and started frequenting the beaches, restaurants and stores in this town. Once we started to make friends in the area, they told us that our concept for The Aloha Bungalow would thrive in this community because of our commitment to supporting local artists and vendors and creating a space where the members of our beach town can gather and have a great time together. We were able to find a wonderful space in Leucadia and decided to expand our business. We are so honored to join this community and hope to get to know everyone better!
